Welcome Address

It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 35th Annual Meting of the EBMT, the 25th Meeting of the EBMT Nurses Group, the 8th Meeting of the EBMT Data Management Group and the 3rd EBMT Patient & Family Day in Göteborg, Sweden, 28 March – 1 April, 2009.

In the interdependent world of the 21st century where achievements in the field of medicine are becoming increasingly complex, EBMT meetings encompass not only an educational mission, but also an opportunity for communication of scientific news during oral and poster sessions. Within the Working Parties and at informal meetings with co-workers and friends, new projects will be discussed and planned. It is our hope that the Göteborg congress will provide not only an excellent opportunity to acquire new knowledge, but also facilitate international cooperation in a spirit of curiosity, openness, and social interaction.

Göteborg is the second largest city in Sweden and is well adapted to host international meetings. The Göteborg Convention Centre is perfectly suitable for the needs of an EBMT meeting with the conference facilities located in the centre of Göteborg. Three thousand seven-hundred hotel rooms are within 20 minutes walk from the convention centre, and the city-centre location implies that virtually all amenities – cultural events, shopping, entertainment and restaurants – are within easy walking distance.

On behalf of the Nordic Scientific Committee and the Local Organising Committee, we are looking forward to seeing you in March 2009 for a successful EBMT meeting.
